How to name a real estate project buyers remember

Naming a real estate project — bold NAME typography with a red square on cream

A project name travels further than any render. It sits on the hoarding, the brochure, the site office and every WhatsApp forward a buyer sends to family. Yet it is often picked in a single meeting, from a list of words that sound expensive.

Here is the approach we use when naming residential and commercial projects.

Start with the promise, not the word

Before anyone suggests a name, agree on the one thing the project should stand for. Is it the view, the address, the community, the design? A name that points at a real promise is easier to remember and easier to sell. A name chosen only because it sounds premium will sit next to a dozen others that sound exactly the same.

Five tests every name should pass

  1. Say it on the phone. If a sales executive has to spell it out, you will lose leads.
  2. Write it in Hindi and English. Buyers in Delhi NCR will read and say it both ways.
  3. Search it. Check the domain, social handles and whether another project already owns it on Google.
  4. Check the trademark. A quick search now avoids a painful rebrand after launch.
  5. Put it on a hoarding. Mock it at the size a driver will see it for two seconds. Short and distinctive wins.
A good name doesn’t describe the project. It gives buyers a reason to ask about it.

What to avoid

  • Stacks of generic luxury words that could belong to any tower.
  • Foreign words nobody on your sales team can pronounce.
  • Names that tie you to a phase or feature you might change.

Test before you commit

Shortlist three names and show them, with a simple logo lockup, to people who match your buyer profile. Ask what kind of home they expect behind each name. The answers tell you which name is doing the positioning work for you.

Naming is the first step of a real estate brand. If you are planning a launch, our brand strategy and identity service covers naming, positioning and the visual system that follows.
